This is one kid that should be on the stump… for papa Trump.
On Thursday, 11-year-old Matthew Schricker was at a rally where Trump’s VP pick, Indiana governor Mike Pence was speaking. As Pence was fielding questions, Schricker asked him the following:
“I’ve been watching the news lately and I’ve been noticing lately that you’ve been kind of softening up on Mr. Trump’s policies and words. Is this going to be your role in the administration?”
According to CNN, the back and forth between Pence and Schricker went like this:
Pence was at first taken aback. “What did you say that I’ve been doing?” Pence asked, to laughter. Schricker repeated: “You’ve been kind of softening up his words and policies.”
Pence laughed, and then gave a candid response about his running mate’s style, and how it differs from his own.
“Sometimes things don’t always come out like you mean,” Pence said, before also pledging to stand by the GOP nominee.
“Donald Trump and I are absolutely determined to work together. We have different styles, you might have noticed that. I said at our convention, I said, you know we nominated someone larger than life, known for charisma. So they wanted to kind of balance the ticket.”
Schricker then appeared on CNN’s New Day and was questioned by co-host Poppy Harlow. Harlow asked the young politico what he thought about the “language and insults” that have been used in Trump’s campaign. The 11-year-old responded in epic fashion saying,
“I really think that listening to a few bad words coming out of Donald Trump is a lot better than people getting blown up by terrorists, people getting burned alive, people getting their heads chopped off, and people getting drowned.”
The internet has been burning up with Schricker’s comment ever since. Watch the moment he utterly destroyed Poppy Harlow.
