From The Conservative Tribune: Our men and women in U.S. Armed Forces are not only heroes, they’re also some pretty smart cookies. For instance, take this Marine I knew. He was serving in Afghanistan and received one of most awful things a serviceman can receive … a “Dear John” letter.
“Dear Ricky,” it read. “I can no longer continue our relationship. The distance between us is just too great. I must admit that I’ve cheated on you twice since you’ve been gone, and it’s not fair to either of us. I’m sorry.
“Please return the picture of me that I sent to you. Love, Becky.”
Ricky, needless to say, was heartbroken. However, while he may have been down, he certainly wasn’t out.
He began asking around the barracks if any of his fellow Marines had any snapshots they could spare of girlfriends, sisters, aunts, cousins, teachers, college friends — really, almost anything female.
He collected 57 photos, which he managed to put in an envelope, along with this letter:
“I’m so sorry, but I can’t quite remember who the heck you are. Please take your picture from the pile and send the rest back to me.
“Take care, Ricky.”

Ricky’s response might not have been the most charitable, but it certainly provides a wise lesson: Don’t mess with the Marines. They always win in the end.
