In late August, Germany announced all Syrian asylum seekers would be welcome to remain. Since then, the country has taken in nearly a million refugees.
Liberals rejoiced of course, and in fact, despite the Paris terror attacks, despite Sweden now finding itself the rape capital of the West, despite ISIS’ claims to infiltrate the throngs of young male refugees with its own fighters (now tragically confirmed), Time Magazine still named German Chancellor Angela Merkel its “Person of the Year” this week in part for throwing out the welcome mat.
In its article, Time giddily proclaims “it was an audacious act that, in a single motion, threatened both to redeem Europe and endanger it, testing the resilience of an alliance formed to avoid repeating the kind of violence tearing asunder the Middle East by working together. That arrangement had worked well enough that it raised an existential question of its own, now being asked by the richest country in Europe: What does it mean to live well?”
Almost before the ink on the Time magazine article is dry, it appears we have the answer, and it’s not pretty.
As the Daily Mail reports, Angela Merkel yesterday described the concept of multiculturalism as ‘living a lie’ and finally admitted it was time to end the relentless flow of refugees into Europe.
The German Chancellor confessed her country would be ‘overwhelmed’ unless she took action as the number of asylum-seekers arriving there this year topped one million.
Since she dramatically opened Germany’s doors to refugees in August, the continent has been besieged with hundreds of thousands of people wanting to get there.
But ahead of an EU summit on Thursday, she restated her long-term opposition to multi-culturalism, saying: ‘Multi-kulti leads to parallel societies and is a living lie.
Gee, ya think?
“In the face of mounting anger from members of her own Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party and among European leaders in neighboring countries or those bordering the EU, Mrs Merkel yesterday vowed to stem the flow of people.
‘A continuation of the current influx would in the long-term overwhelm the state and society, even in a country like Germany,’ she said.”
I’m not a politician and I don’t have a PhD, but I simply do not understand how anyone could have thought letting in any- and everyone who wants to come in was a good idea in the first place.
