Yuck, this one is just yucky. Keith Lamont Scott was shot by Police Officers yesterday which triggered massive violent protests in Charlotte, NC. His brother was caught on camera today saying that “All white people are F–king devils. While doing a search for the video on YouTube I found many videos saying ‘white people are the devil’. So his statement isn’t a new idea and while I feel really sorry for this young man who has lost his brother, I can’t help but think his exclamation is more of a mantra than an emotional outburst.
Let’s just say that Keith and his brother believed that cops and ALL white people were the devil. How would their perception of the world be? If they were told or even repeated this ideal enough in their heads, they would easily be living a life of fear. Black people only make up 11% of the population so believing that white people are devils and cops are out to kill you could make the world a scary place. The problem is in the brothers campaign he was damning ‘white cops’. But then what would he consider a black cop? The Police Chief over this tragedy is black and he says:
“It’s time for the voiceless majority to stand up and be heard,” said the police chief.
“It’s time to change the narrative because I can tell you from the facts that the story’s a little bit different as to how it’s been portrayed so far, especially through social media.”
Putney said evidence and witnesses support the officers’ claim that Scott was armed.
Officers repeatedly told Scott to drop his gun, the chief said, but he didn’t. Officer Brentley Vinson, who is black, then shot him.
The story that the family of Keith Scott are throwing around is either wholly untrue or we are all in big trouble. I find it difficult to believe that police officers have murder in their heart and easier to believe someone with a criminal background could be overly aggressive to police officers causing them to be shot. Even if the guys story he’s telling is untrue I still feel heartbreak as I feel in the end when he says ‘ALL white people are the F–king devil’ he really looks like he believes it. That is a travesty. I couldn’t imagine what that must feel like to believe such a scary untruth.
