As Reported By Allen B West: It may have missed your attention – as it certainly did mine – but Marvel’s Captain America is now black.
Apparently Steve Rogers, the original Captain America, had to step down from his duties because he lost the “super soldier serum” and is now just the 90-year-old man he would be if he weren’t frozen in ice back in WWII.
So Rogers has passed his shield to Sam Wilson, formerly The Raven, and Marvel’s first black superhero.
According to Marvel Comics, “While Sam shares many of Steve’s beliefs in a general sense, he’s also a very different person with a very different background,” adds editor Tom Brevoort, “He didn’t grow up in the 1930s, he’s a modern day man in touch with the problems of the 21st Century. For most of his professional life, Sam has worked as a social worker, so he’s seen the worst of urban society up close, and how crime, poverty, lack of social structure and opportunity can affect the community. So he’s got perhaps a greater focus on the plight of the common man, and perhaps a greater empathy for the underprivileged than maybe even Steve himself. He’s also not a military man, so he’s more apt to be instinctively skeptical of any situation that calls for just following orders.”
In other words (mine), Captain America is now a liberal progressive.
So is it any surprise whom this new hero’s very first villains would be? You guessed it. White conservatives. Seriously.
As the Washington Times reports, “In the latest issue of Marvel’s revamped Captain America, the iconic superhero takes on a group of right-wing conservatives trying to stop illegal immigrants from crossing the border.
In “Captain America: Sam Wilson #1,” the superhero also known as Sam Wilson heads to the border to take on an “evil” militia group known as the Sons of the Serpent, who are patrolling the area between Mexico and Arizona, according to a video summary of the issue created by the Maciver Institute.
The Sons of the Serpent try to stop a group of illegal immigrants from crossing the border. They accuse the immigrants of invading a sovereign land to spread disease and crime, take American jobs and collect welfare.”
NO! That’s despicable! And frightening and…kinda true, at least the last part.
“Attention all trespassers! I am the Supreme Serpent!” the group’s leader is depicted shouting in one of the images. “By invading this sovereign land, you defy the laws of God, nature and the United States Constitution! Therefore, I hereby apprehend you by the power vested in me by the aforementioned God, nature, et cetera, et cetera.”
When the immigrant pleads with the villain, insisting that he doesn’t want any trouble, the commander responds, “Oh, I believe you, sir. I can see you have enough trouble with you already, trouble and disease and crime weigh heavy on your backs.”
“Until the mighty wall is built,” the villain continues, “you come here for employment that is rightfully ours! And if denied it, you seek welfare paid for by our tax dollars! Also, you know how you make me press one for English at the beginning of every call to my satellite provider? That is something I cannot abide!”
The comic depicts media headlines blasting the new, partisan Captain America, calling him anti-American and “Captain Socialism.”
The superhero claims all he wanted to do was bring people together.
Eventually Captain America swoops in and beats up the “bad guys.” However the episode ends on a cliffhanger, with the original Captain America Steve Rogers returning and telling the new superhero to stand down, Breitbart news reported.”
So here we go folks. The liberal intelligentsia (is that oxymoronic?) is now beginning to classify non-liberals as “right wing extremists.” In fact, the esteemed Salon.com published an article just days ago titled “The Paranoid rise of the militant right: Inside the growing threat of domestic extremism.” In particular, Salon called out “right-wing extremist like the Oath Keepers, who also reject the authority of the federal government, but they do it in the name of the U.S. Constitution, along with militias and 2nd Amendment zealots, all of whom are armed to the teeth.”
The quiet campaign has begun to cast conservatives and those who believe fervently in the Constitution and the freedoms it affords as “extremists” if not domestic terrorists. Will we one day be forced to sew yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” patches on our clothing and herded into conservative ghettos? I wish that didn’t sound so crazy.
