This week I’ve been thinking about America and what she stands for, for me and my family. I keep going back to the words sun by Lee Greenwood:
If tomorrow all the things were gone I’d worked for all my life and I had to start again with just my children and my wife I’d thank my lucky stars to be livin’ here today ’cause the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.
I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free and I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me and I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today ’cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the USA.
I’m proud to be an American because I have access to something few outside of America has access to. Every person is born with the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness but I would be hard set to find ANY nation who does less to impede those rights than America.
So what I have found VERY disturbing this week is all of those people who enjoy the same access to freedom have decided to dishonor all those who have made real sacrifices to ensure we all retain that access by desecrating the American flag.
All across the country there have been people who hate America or who hate their fellow Americans by stealing American flags from old ladies, vandalizing flags in neighborhoods, and even burning the American flag in front of people’s homes or at parades to celebrate the disdain they have for America. It disgusts me to read these news reports but you really need to know how far the culture of America has fallen…
In Georgia locals are very upset for stolen flags:
“In the grand scheme of things it was small,” Bob Karpiak, who had his flag stolen told CBS46. “I’m sure it was kids being kids. Hopefully their parents will correct them. Karpiak, like many of his neighbors, is a veteran who is puzzled why anyone would steal a flag, especially so close to the Fourth of July. I served for 20 years and it means a lot to me and my soldiers,” Karpiak said of the flag.
“That kind’ve pisses me off,” neighbor Philip Griffiths, who also had his flag stolen, “Either they’re stupid or just downright disrespectful.”
In Maryland a 51-yr-old has flags burned outside her home:
She told police that her American flag was burned June 28. According to a report, the flag was attached to a flagpole on the woman’s front porch. When the woman came home at 11 a.m., she noticed the flag had been burned on her front lawn. Responding officers found the flag charred and in several small pieces when they arrived at the house. The woman told police that she last saw her flag at 8 a.m..
A widow in Tennessee was horrified to see her deceased husband’s military flag burned hanging from her house:
The first American flag 79-year-old Kathyleen E. Phillips lost belonged to her deceased husband, who served in the military, according to a Maryville Police report. Someone came onto her property sometime early Wednesday morning and set the flag on fire as it hung from a support beam at the front of her home, according to reports. On Friday, Phillips’ son replaced that flag with one donated by the American Legion. This flag, which the American Legion donated in honor of Phillips’ husband for the Fourth of July holiday, met the same end.
While Phillips checked on the flag multiple times throughout the evening and night, it was also set on fire sometime early Saturday morning, according to the report.
A really really stupid man posted a video burning his own flag… which is his right and not necessarily vandalism but still it sickens me because of his ignorance to what the flag really stands for. Here is what he thinks the flag stands for as he explains why he burned the flag:
“I am not proud to be an American. In this moment, being proud of my country is to ignore the atrocities committed against people of color, people living in poverty, people who identify as women, and against my own queer community on a daily basis,” Mellott wrote on Facebook in a post.
And of course my very favorite… tranny’s burning flags in a parade cussing out America! Someone even posted a video of people CHEERING as the American Flag was being burned at a trans parade. Ironically in most any other country in the world, transsexuals would be shunned, bullied or killed for being themselves. In American they are protected to BE themselves.
