President Trump’s campaign trail promise to build a wall that spans the southern border is going to happen, according to the administration, and not a single liberal radical can do a thing about it.
Have a gander at what the Department of Homeland Security is starting with its bid solicitations:
The Dept. of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intends on issuing a solicitation in electronic format on or about March 6, 2017 for the design and build of several prototype wall structures in the vicinity of the United States border with Mexico. The procurement will be conducted in two phases, the first requiring vendors to submit a concept paper of their prototype(s) by March 10, 2017, which will result in the evaluation and down select of offerors by March 20, 2017. The second phase will require the down select of phase 1 offerors to submit proposals in response to the full RFP by March 24, 2017, which will include price. Multiple awards are contemplated by mid-April for this effort. An option for additional miles may be included in each contract award.
Addressing the crowd at CPAC, President Trump that they were ahead of schedule when it came to the logistics and planning of the massive construction project:
According to news.au.com:
Trump has vowed to start building a wall on the Mexican border “soon, way ahead of schedule”.
Mr Trump told the nation’s largest gathering of conservative activists, the Conservative Political Action Congress, in Washington, that he vowed to always put American citizens first and build a “great, great border wall”.
“We’re building the wall,” he said.
“In fact it’s going to start very soon. Way ahead of schedule. It’s way, way, way ahead of schedule.”
As a skeptic of pretty much anything in politics, I will wait to pass my own judgment on the matter. We need to secure the border, that is not a question. A measure was passed by congress in the late 2000’s to accomplish this, yet nothing was done (go figure). Left, Right, Center, none of this should matter. The only thing that matters is whether or not people keep their promises.
So far, President Trump is dong that.
