Academy Award nominated screenwriter Jason Hall said on Fox News Thursday that Americans need to do better in welcoming our troops home.
Hall is the screenwriter for the recently Oscar-nominated film “American Sniper,” the story of the most prolific sniper in American history, Chris Kyle.
With the popularity of the movie, Hall told Sean Hannity that he wants people to understand what soldiers go through in the theater of war.
“Those decisions that they make live with them for the rest of their lives and every soldier that goes over there has his version of that,” he said.
“My hope is that this enables us to understand a little bit more about what these soldiers go through and in doing that maybe we can welcome them home in a way that we weren’t able to before,” he said. “Maybe we can understand what they go through and be able to engage them in a conversation, so they don’t feel like they’re so alone with all this turmoil and all these decisions they made.
