From Conservative Tribune: Imagine being so destitute that your only option for sustenance lies in the garbage dumpster of a restaurant.
Now meet Ashley Jiron, owner of P.B. Jams in Warr Acres, Okla. Upon discovering that someone had been digging through her restaurant’s dumpster for food, she decided to take immediate action by placing a sign on the dumpster that reads as follows:
“To the person going through our trash for their next meal: You’re a human being and worth more than a meal from a dumpster. Please come in during operating hours for a classing Pb&j, fresh veggies, and a cup of water at no charge. No questions asked.”
She signed the letter, “Your friend, the owner.”
She was angry all right. She was angry that someone out there has been reduced to such a low level in life that he or she felt it necessary to eat from a dumpster!
“That really — it hurt me that someone had to do that,” the kindhearted restaurant owner told reporters.
Unfortunately, the hungry individual has yet to take up her offer, though Jiron has no intentions of removing the sign until he or she does.
“I think we’ve all been in that position where we needed someone’s help, and we just needed someone to extend that hand, and if I can be that one person to extend that hand to another human being, then I will definitely do it,” she explained. (H/T Mad World News)
What’s crazy is that she has since been criticized by some — likely liberals — for allegedly offering too little. The people who maintain this attitude miss out on the greater point, which is that she wasn’t required to do anything at all.
That restaurant owner Ashley Jiron voluntarily chose to offer charity to someone in need is an immense act of goodwill and righteousness unto itself, especially given the age of selfishness and entitlement that we live in.
