From Truth Revolt: Michael Moore’s buzz from riding his high-horse in front of Trump Tower in New York City to declare that “We Are All Muslim” must have worn off already, because less than a week later, he’s already chasing his next self-righteous high by way of his favorite of subjects to protest: guns.
In Tuesday’s Hollywood Reporter, the “lifetime NRA member” braggart, took the liberty to rewrite the National Rifle Association’s slogan from “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people” to:
Guns don’t kill people — Americans kill people.
It’s fear, Moore said, not violence in movies, TV, or video games that drives this country to murder. He added that our society is “force[d] to live in a constant state of fear: fear of going broke, fear of losing your job, fear of getting sick, fear of getting old and being without.” His solution? Good old-fashioned socialism:
We know that there’s no safety net for us here in the USA. We are the “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” nation, the “you take care of yours and I’ll take care of mine” and the “your problems are not my problems” society. Most of us find a way to cope with all of this. We suck it up and take the ulcer for the team. But then there are the few that can’t. And with easy access to any kind of gun — and as much ammo as they want — they find a way to act out their frustration and aggression. Not because they saw Kill Bill. But because they live in the home of the brave. That is something we can change.
Spending the bulk of his column praising the nearly-gunless societies of other countries and their “generous” government programs that offer health care, education, and all-around “safety nets” to its citizens, Moore believes it’s going to take that kind of “bravery” to transform America into a utopian wonderland where guns have gone the way of the telegram.
Michael Moore once said, “The gun, not the eagle, is our true national symbol.” Man, with America being such a loathsome place, why would anybody want to live here? Moore seems to REALLY like the way other countries are run, yet he isn’t willing to change his address. There must be something keeping him here. Maybe it’s that other thing that so many Americans cling so tightly to along with their guns and religion: freedom.
