An obviously partisan teacher slipped an obviously stupid question in the homework and parents are obviously outraged.
Can I be any more obvious?
The questions this teacher placed on vocabulary homework were anti-Trump and pro-Obama, but that’s not really what people are annoyed about. They’re more annoyed that a teacher is pushing their political agenda on 11-year-old students. They’re just kids, let them be kids and teach them information so they can pass the grade. Teach them to become free thinkers.
It seems as though the teacher was educating students on vocabulary words, so this should not have been used as a political tool to push her personal agenda.
A Staten Island educator slipped in an anti-President Trump question on a middle school homework assignment — and then defended it to outraged parents as freedom of speech.
Annadale dad Vincent Ungro was furious when his 11-year-old daughter, who attends IS 75, asked him to help her with her vocabulary homework last Friday night.
She was having a hard time filling in the blanks from a word bank for question No. 8.
“President Trump speaks in a very superior and _________ manner insulting many people. He needs to be more __________ so that the American people respect and admire him.”
Mr. Ungro, the father, has every right to be annoyed. He should be annoyed. Homework about vocabulary is not to paint political opinions nor be used to push personal opinions by nitwit teachers who may still be crying over Hillary’s loss. Let’s not forget that most teachers actually wanted Bernie Sanders, but he couldn’t get beyond the DNC’s love affair with Hillary. Also, don’t forget that the AFT’s Randi Weingarten sold teachers out for Hillary. So anytime teachers talk trash on Trump, they should point the fingers at the democrat party for failing to secure a victory and screwing them over with the worst female candidate for President ever.
Don’t hate Trump because he ran a better campaign and because your boy Bernie didn’t get the nod. Trump vs Bernie would’ve been like watching the main event at a WWE event!
Teachers are not supposed to push politics on little kids. Teach them about government and how it works in social studies class, but keep your personal opinions and smear campaigns to yourself.
This teacher, Adria Zawatsky, doesn’t know how to differentiate her opinions from her lesson plans. If she followed the guidelines for teaching, then her objectives would be more clear and not include one-sided smears on politicians. Not to mention these kids could care less about Donald Trump and Obama right now. They’re in what, 5th or 6th grade at 11 and 12, so they’re too busy having fun to care about adult problems. She should focus on her objectives and differentiate students who prefer different political figures. Oh wait, that’s right, kids don’t care about politics and they shouldn’t care about it.
She doesn’t need to be fired or have serious disciplinary actions, but she needs this documented and on file.
If she pulls this nonsense again, then her union needs to reject her and not fight for her if she’s fired. At some point, the teacher unions need to know when to cut ties with someone who isn’t pulling their weight or is bad at the job.
Let this be a warning to all teachers to keep your personal politics out of the classrooms.
