From the Examiner: Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., angered many this weekend when volunteers displayed the Mexican flag on a float promoting her and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Fred DuVall, the Daily Caller said Monday. Making matters worse, no U.S. flag could be seen anywhere on the float.
“Arizona voters already know Kirkpatrick has been doing a poor job representing her constituents while she continues to support Obama’s failed policies,” said state GOP Chairman Robert Graham. “But,” he added, “flying the Flag of Mexico alone with no sign of the Flag of the United States is offensive and hurtful not just to our veterans but to every American.”
Kirkpatrick, however, didn’t see it that way and touted her supporters’ participation in the parade on Twitter. But the photos she posted were carefully edited to remove much, if not all, of the Mexican flag. The unedited photo, however, was posted to Twitter.
“Our team is walking in Eloy today & talking about Ann’s record of fighting for AZ families,” she said. But many questioned how Kirkpatrick could claim to be working for Arizona families while displaying a Mexican flag.
“Is there a reason you’re flying a foreign flag?” one person asked. “Are you fighting for American families or Mexican?”
“You accept salary from USA taxpayers & represent AZ, but flew Mexican flag on your parade float?” another person asked. “No USA flag? Appalling!”
“Proud to be a Mexican, huh?” Twitter user Kathy Mathews asked. “Flying a Mexican flag on your float. You are a disgrace!!!!”
Another person called the display “sick.” Others slammed her for refusing to own up to the act. One Twitter critic said Kirkpatrick should be defeated in November for being a Marxist. Kirkpatrick’s office covered for her, saying the float was run by volunteers and she was not present. The unedited photo, tweeted by Sonoran Alliance, can be seen above.
