Barack And Michelle Break From Vacation To Drop Huge Announcement Nobody Saw Coming

Obama has been having the time of his life after leaving the White House. Just days after the man who racked up over $100 million in vacation expenses at the taxpayer’s expense (in addition to the $20 trillion national debt – but that’s a whole other story!) was seen having a kite-surfing adventure with billionaire Richard Branson.

At least he can ignore the wreckage of his presidency and enjoy himself. In fact, I think we’d rather see the Obama’s vacationing than making any kind of return to politics, no?

Well, unfortunately, much like the Clintons, the Obama’s will be making a career out of speaking engagements soon.

As The Root reported:

Former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are gearing up for public appearances and book deals by signing up with the Harry Walker Agency, which will coordinate the speaking engagements while two attorneys will represent them for contract negotiations regarding potential book deals, a spokesman said Friday.

Politico reports that spokesman Kevin Lewis said in a statement, “President Barack Obama and Mrs. Obama have selected the Harry Walker Agency (HWA) to coordinate their respective speaking engagements. In addition, Attorneys Robert Barnett and Deneen Howell will manage contract negotiations with potential publishers for the former president and Mrs. Obama’s respective books.”

According to Politico, former White House press secretary Josh Earnest and former President Bill Clinton are also represented by the Harry Walker speakers bureau.

Speaking of book deals, Obama already could be granted a $20 million book deal. Not a bad gig for something a ghostwriter is going to author regardless.

And when it comes to speaking engagements, the Clintons earned over $150 million from speaking engagements after Bill’s presidency. I guess if there were people actually willing to pay to listen to Hillary Clinton talk, the same will hold true for Obama.

That doesn’t mean I understand why.
