Black Lives Matter has been a scourge on Pittsburgh… they have seen their share of protests and cop-hatred. But there is one man who is prominent there that doesn’t bow to political correctness or Black Lives Matter. That man is NFL superstar and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger. For the 10th year in a row, he has donated to both police and fire agencies all across America in support of them. He’s especially dedicated to law enforcement K-9 units.
“We’re very fortunate to be in the position that we are able to help these K-9 units. The work that is performed by the dogs and their handlers as well as the bond that is formed is incredible. We’re just thrilled to do our small part,” read a statement in support of Roethlisberger’s charitable foundation. This is a man of principle and conviction that gives to those he truly believes in.
From Blue Lives Matter:
With the NFL season right around the corner, many teams are suiting up for the first time this weekend in a series of pre-season games. For many donning pads, their careers will be short-lived as some will leave packing after a less than fantastic showing. But for one MVP, making the most of his moments in the NFL goes hand in hand with giving back.
For the 10th year in a row, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is donating funds to police and fire agencies across the United States. His efforts will support K-9 units or allow departments to purchase K-9’s for the field. Ben said in a statement on his website, “We’re very fortunate to be in the position that we are able to help these K-9 units. The work that is performed by the dogs and their handlers as well as the bond that is formed is incredible. We’re just thrilled to do our small part.” Ben’s message to the police and fire community is clear: We are valued by this high profile athlete.
Last year, the Roethlisberger Foundation donated more than $170,000 to various police and fire agencies across America. At least $93,000 of that went to agencies in the Pittsburgh area. They must love him there. One of the recipients of Ben’s generosity was the Beaver County Sheriff’s Department in Pennsylvania. Sheriff Tony Guy had this to say: “At a time when the responsibilities associated with protecting and serving our citizens is becoming greater, and our budgets are becoming smaller, the grant from the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation to the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office is truly a godsend,” Guy told Blue Lives Matter.
The foundation will give out eight grants this year to the communities hosting each of the Steelers’ road games: Washington DC, Philadelphia, Miami, Baltimore, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Buffalo and Cincinnati.
The commissioner of the NFL has been a disgrace over this whole dissing of the National Anthem and kneeling for Black Lives Matter. But this is one NFL player who honors America, his sport, the police, the military and firefighters every way he can. Let’s hope others learn from his wonderful example.
