Federal investigations into the Orlando, Florida shooter have brought about some interesting results. A 2013 investigation into the terrorist was allegedly halted because investigators thought his coworkers held islamphobic opinions.
Catherine Herridge of Fox News Channel reported that James Comey, the FBI Director, revealed this secret and classified information in a closed door meeting on Monday with numerous reporters.
About the investigation she said,
“It was 10 months in length, and it was opened after he told his coworkers that he had family connections to Al Qaeda, that he was a member of a Shi’a terrorism organization and that he hoped law enforcement would raid his home and assault his wife so that he could then retaliate and martyr himself.”
During the time of the ten month investigation the shooter was on a FBI watch list and attempted to try and buy a firearm. Eventually, the investigation was closed.
“At the end of 10 months the investigation was closed with no further action. They took Mateen’s statements he was trying to taunt his coworkers because he thought he was being marginalized because of his Muslim faith.”
Sebastian Gorka, a counter terrorism specialist, told the Washington Free Beacon that,
“The fact is religion has been expunged from counter-terrorism training. The FBI can’t talk about Islam and they can’t talk about jihad.”
The government has continued to downplay the role Islam plays in radical extremism and terrorism during FBI investigations which very well could have resulted in the Orlando, Florida shootings and the Boston Marathon Bombings.
Counter terrorism specialist Patrick S. Poole commented on the controversy,
“Again, the FBI has been aware of a future terrorist’s escalating religious radicalization and did nothing about it because bureau policies prohibited them from doing so.”
Has political correctness seriously gone so far that the federal government overlooks serious terrorism threats so as not to offend the Muslim community?!
