In the latest enraging story to originate out of Washington, illegal aliens will be getting back-taxes paid to them by the IRS even though they didn’t pay taxes.
Describing the latest example of the Obama administration not thinking anything through, IRS commissioner Josh Koskinen testified before the House Oversight Committee that the administration never spoke to him or anyone at the IRS about the effects Obama’s deportation amnesty would have concerning the IRS and that under the plan, illegals would be able to claim back-refunds once they receive social security numbers.
“I haven’t talked to the White House about this at all,” Koskinen testified during Wednesday’s hearing, according to the Washington Times. The commissioner also said that illegals who used fake social security numbers in the past but gain a real one under Obama’s plan would be eligible to apply for the Earned Income Tax Credit, which is what he told the Senate during a testimony last week.
“Under the new program, if you get a Social Security number and you work, you’ll be eligible to apply for the Earned Income Tax Credit,” he told members of Congress.
According to the Times, the EITC is a refundable tax credit which allows those without any tax liability to still receive money back from the government. Under Obama’s plan, the four million illegals eligible for deferred deportation would be eligible for the refunds.
Koskinen said he didn’t know the exact number that the refunds would amount to, but testified that the maximum annual tax credit is between $500 and $600. By our own math, if they’re allowed to claim the EITC, it could cost taxpayers up to $2.4 billion dollars.
Congressional Republicans didn’t appear too happy with Koskinen’s testimony or the fact that the White House never checked with the IRS over what the program’s ramifications would be. South Carolina Rep. Mick Mulvaney exploded at the commissioner and accused the Obama administration of again being lawless.
“That’s just outrageous,” Mulvaney said. “If Congress had passed a law doing exactly what the president did, we would have had not only an estimate of the costs, but we would have also been required to propose ways to pay for the programs. This is just another example of the administration operating outside the rule of law.”
Koskinen’s testimony comes as lawmakers expressed concerns that Obama’s amnesty plan could create an entire new group of voters by exploiting similar loopholes in other laws. Republican lawmakers sent the president a letter on Wednesday, warning that his amnesty program needed to keep the integrity of our voting system intact.
“While we may disagree about whether your deferred action programs were lawfully created and implemented,” the letter read, “We are confident that we can all agree that these programs cannot be permitted to impair the integrity of our elections.”
The shocking revelation from Koskinen comes after a report that the Obama administration has been running a secret amnesty program since 2009. Mad World News first reported that the secret program had nearly doubled the immigration rate into the country over the course of six years, allowing nearly five million additional illegals to obtain work permits, many of which were already denied entry into the country.
Many of us would agree that with the current shortage of jobs and high unemployment and underemployment rates, granting amnesty in such large numbers will likely be a blow to our economy and to hard-working Americans looking for jobs. On top of that, forking out over $2 billion in additional refunds to people who haven’t earned them would be a massive slap in the face to those of us who do what we’re supposed to.
The impacts from the lawlessness of this administration will be felt for years to come. All we can hope is that the Republican majority in Congress is able to slow it down before too much damage is done.
Make sure you share this to show others what they likely won’t hear from the mainstream media.
