Here’s an idea from Trump that you’ll love: term limits for Congress.
If put into law, the age of the career politician would be over. The incentives of politicians will shift from how they can enrich themselves over a lengthy political career (and get reelected) to how they can actually do their job as a congressman.
As the Conservative Tribune reported, Trump would put this into law in the form of a Constitutional Amendment. It would be interesting to see how many congressmen would vote against it…
“I will push for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress,” Trump said, according to Fox News. He said that he would make it two terms for senators and three for representatives.
“Effectively, he said he’s going to drain the swamp and get rid of corruption in Washington,” Fox News’ Carl Cameron reported.
And you know, I’m really starting to question just how completely clueless those in the media are. You wouldn’t believe their reaction
On Tuesday’s ”CNN Newsroom,” anchor Brooke Baldwin asserted that “there already are are term limits” on members of Congress. Yes, she’s really this stupid.
Baldwin said, “Let me just relay this to everyone, that apparently, from the Trump camp, there is another major announcement that Trump will make today as part of his pledge to ‘drain the swamp,’ we keep hearing ‘drain the swamp’ in Washington. He says, ‘If I’m elected president, I will push for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress,’ correct me, there already are term limits, so what does he mean?
I’ll correct you Brooke – you’re wrong.
Hasn’t everyone favored term limits for Congressmen for a while now? Does the media really have to pretend that there’s something wrong with it solely because Donald Trump is advocating for it?
Donald Trump could state tomorrow that the sky is blue and CNN would have a ream of fact-checkers rate the claim “half-true.”
