Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), quite possibly America’s favorite congressman, has been a figurative bulldog nipping at the heels of President Obama and his administration.
Gowdy has been especially focused on the Benghazi terror attack, as he chairs the Benghazi Select Committee, but he has also gone after the administration over the IRS targeting scandal and has been highly critical of Obama’s consistently unconstitutional actions.
Trey Gowdy has let loose on Obama again, this time critiquing his State of the Union speech, according to TPNN.
“Last year, the president promised he would use his pen and phone to ignore the legislative branch and push through his agenda by executive fiat. We have witnessed one executive power grab after another, setting a dangerous precedent and eroding the constitutional balance set forward by our Founders.”
“As the president himself once said, elections have consequences. The most recent one being he must work with the Republican-controlled Congress, rather than spout recycled, failed ideas from past speeches. Americans are looking for leadership. They want solutions. The president has the opportunity to put aside politics and engage with the new Congress. We hope he will.”
Trey Gowdy is absolutely right, but he usually is, so no surprise there.
In a way that only he can do, Gowdy has exposed the Emperor for being a naked hypocrite, despite the media’s best efforts to hide Obama’s shame.
Gowdy is correct to remind Obama that elections have consequences, and we certainly join him in hoping that Obama will set aside politics and work with the new Congress.
We would not, however, advise Gowdy to hold his breath waiting for that to happen… or any other member of Congress for that matter.
