The Federal Bureau of Investigation has finally arrested the wife of the Orlando, Florida Pulse Nightclub shooting. She has been formally criminally charged in connection with the shooting massacre. Her name is Noor Salman and she is staring down the barrel of a life prison term. Prosecutors are arguing she purposefully helped her husbands plans while trying to make sure the FBI did not catch on.
She is thirty years old and allegedly abetted her husband knowingly. She has also been charged with obstruction of justice. Despite her protestations that she was clueless to the events that occurred the evidence paints a far different picture.
A former federal prosecutor John Malcom who is the Director of the Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies stated the following to Fox News,
“If you give somebody a gun knowing that they are going to use it to rob a bank, in the eyes of the law you are just guilty as the bank robber.”
The shooting was the deadliest the American public has ever seen. Forty nine people were brutally murdered and dozens more were tragically injured. After a three hour standoff the gunman was shot and killed by law enforcement officers. His wife was arrested on Monday morning in Rodeo, California.
Mateen had pledged allegiance to ISIS. He admitted so during phone calls to emergency operators. After hours of interrogation investigators believed his wife was lying about her involvement. She’s due in federal court on Tuesday in Oakland. Her attorney Linda Moreno said the following,
“had no foreknowledge nor could she predict what Omar Mateen intended to do that tragic night.”
Either way it appears that people will finally get the earthly justice they have been wishing for for a long time. While Mateen may be dead and people’s hopes of real justice gone it appears that her arrest and potential conviction could be the real justice the victims and there families seek.
