An Afghan man dressed in an Army uniform opened fired on troops Tuesday morning at Camp Qargha, resulting in the death of a U.S. Two-Star General and wounded 15 others authorities said.
Camp Qargha is to the west of the capital city, Kabul. The attack resulted in the highest ranking American officer’s death in the entire Afghan war and comes on the heels of American forces pulling out of the region at the end of the year.
German military stated that 15 NATO soldiers were wounded and ‘probably by internal attackers’
According to NBC a senior security source stated the suspected gunman was a bodyguard of the Paktia provincial governor, and his fellow soldiers killed him during the ambush.
