However, according to one of Obama’s former top generals, the president’s policy on the most tumultuous region in the world may rely on wishful thinking.
According to retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, the president’s foreign policy is dependent on what he called “willful ignorance” and said that he doesn’t understand the true order in the Middle East.
“Right now, we have almost a complete breakdown of order in the Middle East,” Flynn told Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace. “A new Middle East is essentially struggling to be born.”
And, of course, Obama’s doing his best to obfuscate this process.
“At the end of the day, we have just this incredible policy confusion — never mind what our strategy is to execute that policy,” Flynn told Fox News.
“We have to stop what we’re doing and take a hard look at everything going on the Middle East because it’s not going in the right direction.”
As for how the United States is dealing with this, Lt. Gen. Flynn said the United States is pursuing “almost a policy of willful ignorance … we have some major problems that we are dealing with, and here we are talking to Iran about a nuclear deal with this almost complete order of breakdown in the Middle East.”
Flynn also criticized America’s Iranian policy: “Iran is also a country with ballistic missiles, cyber capabilities, they are also still a state-sponsor of terrorism.
Give me a break too, Lt. Gen. Flynn. It’s time Obama was held to account.
