A large manhunt was underway after two NYPD officers were shot Monday night in the Bronx.
WNBC-TV reported that the officers were expected to be OK and had been transported to a local-area hospital following the incident that occurred around 10:30 p.m.
According to WABC-TV, one officer was shot in the arm and the other in the back.
Officers had attempted to pull over the suspect’s vehicle after responding to a burglary call, but the driver did not comply, WABC reported.
The vehicle ultimately crashed and police said the individual got out and fired on officers before fleeing the scene, according to WABC.
The shooting comes just more than two weeks after two officers were gunned down in their patrol car in Brooklyn by a man who vowed online to kill “pigs.” The man later committed suicide.
The second officer was buried on Sunday.
