(Conservative Tribune) Speaking with Fox News host Bill O’Reilly this Monday evening, David Jacques, a well-respected member of Roseburg, Oregon, where a gunman killed nine Umpqua College students and teachers last Thursday, issued a bombshell statement regarding President Barack Obama’s intention to visit his community.
“I think the president will not be welcomed into the community,” said Jacques, publisher of the Roseburg Beacon. “And that is not just my opinion.”
Jacques explained that his staff had spoken to “dozens upon dozens of citizens,” including family members of the victims, elected officials, Douglas County commissioners, the Douglas County sheriff and the local chief of police.
“(They) all came to consensus language about him not being welcome here to grandstand for political purposes,” Jacques continued.
He added that “a number of people” in the community were especially offended when, only hours after the shooting, before residents even had the time to finish “counting the bodies on the campus,” Obama made a statement during a news conference in which he pushed for more gun control.
“So now he wants to come to our community and stand on the corpses of our loved ones to make some kind of a political point, and it isn’t going to be well-received,” Jacques explained.
Nor will he likely be well received by Bonnie Schaan, the mother of victim Cheyenne Fitzgerald, who was shot in the back during the incident but survived.
“America, we need to pack guns — if this is what it’s coming to — to have to protect ourselves,” she said during an interview with NBC.
It sounds like nobody in Roseburg wants President Obama to show up there, because like the rest of us, they recognize that Obama is only interested in scoring political points.
When it comes to the actual victims and their families, well … they’re just collateral damage to him.
