Since the second FBI Director James Comey’s shocking termination was announced, speculations began to circulate as to who his replacement would be. Eager conservatives suggested that Sheriff Clarke or Trey Gowdy would be perfect for the job, as the two top names among a select few who would do better than Comey ever did. Now, we know who President Donald Trump could entrust to lead in this prestigious position and deliver the justice to Hillary Clinton she’s had coming.
Rather than investigating Hillary Clinton’s prolific crimes or looking into Barack Obama’s shadow government put in place after Trump took office, the FBI turned all of their attention on our Commander-in-Chief. This was at the urging of liberals who distracted from what really needed to be looked at with outlandish and unsubstantiated claims of Trump’s alleged connection with Russia.
After multiple chances and two months of wasted time, Trump finally decided to put an end to the Russian nonsense and the FBI Director leading the charge down this rabbit hole, by terminating Comey from the position effective immediately. This was no small decision and neither is his replacement which was probably carefully contemplated before handing Comey the “pink slip.”
Conservative Post reports:
“As head of the House Select Committee tasked with investigating Obama’s failure in Benghazi, Rep. Gowdy demonstrated that he’s willing to hunt down the truth while ignoring all the political games and nonsense.”
“Gowdy was also highly critical of Comey for failing to prosecute Hillary Clinton after damning evidence surfaced regarding her private email servers.”
Trey Gowdy doesn’t tip-toe around the truth or take a reactive approach to answering questions about it like Comey did, who was less than forthright. For this reason and having proved himself capable and determined to seek justice for what happened in Benghazi, President Trump has picked Gowdy as the frontrunner replacement to lead the FBI.
Should he officially be selected to fill the position, which would be much to the approval of conservatives across the country, Gowdy wouldn’t legally be able to take the job until his term is up in January 2019 since an individual can’t hold two positions in the federal government. However, there could be an unorthodox approach to suffice until that time, with the FBI answering to the House Investigative Committee until Gowdy is able to officially take the director position, if and when that decision is made official.
President Trump is not expected to make his nomination for FBI Director for a few days, but there are other names up for the position which Trey Gowdy could be competing with.
Fox News reports Ray Kelly, Chris Christie, and David Clarke are also potential contenders for what each one could bring to the FBI.
Kelly is “tough on crime” and proved himself an incredible leader as police commissioner in New York City who “oversaw the force in the years following the Sept. 11 attacks when terror threats were routine,” Fox News reported. He could be critical in anti-terrorism efforts within the nation’s top law enforcement agency.
Christie likely isn’t conservatives favored replacement but could be an option despite his not-so-friendly relationship with Trump. Christie’s value to the FBI is mostly in his ability to “bring law enforcement bona fides to the job,” according to Fox.
Next to Gowdy, Sheriff David Clarke is seemingly the next frontrunner for conservatives’ choice, who has a no-nonsense and outspoken approach to law enforcement leadership. He’s also a fiery defender of our president, something that’s been missing from the FBI since Comey was a holdover from the Obama administration. He’s also been exceptionally critical of Black Lives Matter.
Even with other names being considered and this is probably just a short list, Gowdy remains as the frontrunner and perfect man for the job. In addition to his relentless efforts against Hillary Clinton to avenge the deaths of four Americans killed in Benghazi, Gowdy also comes with an extensive legal background that could greatly benefit the country if he was operating things at the highest capacity within the FBI. Gowdy’s public statement after Comey’s firing says it all and is exactly why he deserves to replace him. He truly has the qualities of an “independent-minded person to serve as the head of our nation’s premier law enforcement agency,” that he suggested needs to be in this position.
