Gee, another computer fiasco involving the Democrats. Who didn’t see this coming? Remember Hillary’s home brewed server and the thousands of emails that were not properly secured? It opened us up to security breaches and basically invited our enemies in to see everything the State Department was up to. It was a clear violation of the Espionage Act. Now this… at least five IT contractors have been accused of improperly accessing the House computer system, along with taking hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment and billing the House for amounts that are greater than the cost of equipment. These contractors worked for dozens of House Democrats.
Information obtained by the contractors was stored on a cloud server leaving it open to possible hacking by foreign agents. Investigators don’t believe espionage was involved, but they can’t be certain. And there is a distinct possibility that the information was being sold to interested parties here in the US. No House members themselves are under investigation, but we all know that many of them are corrupt and have been before. No arrests have been made yet, but it sure looks like there will be. Why aren’t any Democrats being held accountable for this?
From the Conservative Tribune:
U.S. Capitol police were investigating after IT contractors working for Democrats in the House of Representatives were accused of “inappropriately” accessing the House computer system, among other allegations.
According to Fox News, the contract IT workers not only had access to multiple serves and computers, but also would also perform other tasks for Democrats. One of those tasks was to place orders for a congressional office.
Police were reportedly looking into claims that the workers would purchase the required goods, then bill the office at a higher rate so that they could pocket the extra money.
U.S. Capitol Police spokesperson Eva Malecki said no House members were under investigation, according to The Washington Examiner.
“At the request of Members of Congress, the United States Capitol Police are investigating the actions of House IT support staff. No Members are being investigated,” Malecki said. “No arrests have been made. It should be noted that, administratively, House staff were asked to update their security settings as a best practice. We have no further comment on the ongoing investigation at this time.”
Thursday night, members of Congress were briefed on this whole snafu. The contractors have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation probes exactly what has been going on. We have no way of knowing what, if anything, was exposed to our enemies yet. With all the cyber security drama in DC these days, you’d think this couldn’t occur. You’d be wrong.
It’s my opinion that not only should all politicians be subject to a thorough background check that is reviewed by committee, but so should anyone doing business with them. Especially IT personnel. This is sloppy and stupid and certainly puts at risk national security. It’s one of the biggest reasons Hillary Clinton was not elected… corruption and incompetence. It looks like the entire Democratic Party suffers from both.
