State Department spokesman John Kirby announced that the investigation into Hillary’s handling of classified materials has been reopened.
According to the Associated Press, the probe was suspended so as not to interfere with the FBI’s own investigation.
The State Department review will begin again now that the Justice Department has announced that there will be no charges brought against Clinton.
Kirby told the AP:
“We will aim to be as expeditious as possible, but we will not put artificial deadlines on the process. Our goal will be to be as transparent as possible about our results, while complying with our various legal obligations.”
The probe will look into whether “emails were classified at the time of transmission.”
If classified materials are found to have been mishandled, Hillary or her staff at the time could face counseling, warning, or have their security clearances revoked, the AP reported Kirby as saying.
Those who will most likely be scrutinized will be Cheryl Mills, Jake Sullivan and Huma Abedin. They were responsible for writing many of Hillary’s emails. Hillary may be eyeing Mills to be her chief of staff, and Sullivan her national security adviser, if Hillary wins the election.
Kirby told reporters that if rules were violated, it could lead to someone losing their security clearance, which could affect their ability to work in other areas of the federal government.
I guess it’s not over until it’s over. FBI director James Comey, although he did not recommend charges against Hillary, gave a boatload of ammunition to Trump & Republicans in exposing her lies to the world. That ammo can be used against Hillary for the rest of the election.
Perhaps the State Department will hand Trump even more ammunition if they find that rules on handling classified materials were broken. It could get very bad, very quick, for ‘Ol Crooked Hillary. And that’s great freaking news!
