Most of America hadn’t heard of singer Joy Villa until she boldly stepped out onto the red carpet at the Grammys in a dress made out of Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” flag. It was a brave move, considering that Hollywood hates our President, but now she’s heading to the White House for a huge role that’s as unexpected as her political statement was.
Villa recently went on record to surprise everyone who thought they knew her and her intentions with the dress, with what her new goal is. It took a lot of guts to do what she did at the Grammys since awards shows are often wrought with anti-Trump rhetoric, where celebrities believe they’re being brave by speaking their opinions in a room full of like-minded people. Villa went sharply against the grain and made the Grammys great again in her dress and now we know that she’s not slowing down with what she’s headed to do.
After first confirming that she’s a Trump supporter in an interview last week, she admitted in a follow-up interview with Aaron Klein Investigative Radio what else she plans to do with her newfound fame among conservatives. Villa hopes to get to the White House and have the opportunity to perform her rendition of Queen’s 1977 classic, “We Are The Champions,” for President Trump.
“That is my goal,” she said of her plans to perform for our president after she so bluntly stepped out in support of him. “That is what I would love to do. I would like to show an outpouring of support and perform for the president. And that would be just the cherry on top of everything.” However, for Villa, it’s more than just the experience, it’s the important message she hopes to spread in a very divided country, and she’s just the person to do it.
Villa told Klein that she hopes to continue to spread support for “our president; for Americans; for patriotism; and just for tolerance and love,” she told Klein. If she doesn’t get her chance with singing the champion song for Trump, she vows to use any and every event available to her to “change the narrative.” “Because we don’t all think like how they are telling us to think. And that is my whole platform,” she added.
The country doesn’t need more ignorant, entitled celebrities with a negative opinion that divides more than they do change anything — regardless of what they claim. We need more leaders in these outlets like Villa who aren’t afraid of what their peers think, or how Americans may respond to what they have to say, or sales they may lose. It’s time to change the storyline and love America, even if you don’t love our leader, but can respect him and our country enough to come together and make the United States united again.
