Two prominent conservatives just accused President Barack Obama of harming America’s efforts in the Middle East — and one of them is a retired Air Force general.
Host Megyn Kelley began by commenting on the Obama administration’s public announcement of our specific plans to drive the Islamic State terrorist group out of Mosul, Iraq.
“The disclosure includes the number of Iraqi troops that will be involved and a specific time frame for the battle,” she explained.
“If a private in Iraq had revealed this kind of planning inadvertently by leaving a plan in the chow hall or a gym, he might have faced a court-martial,” commented Cotton.
“But it’s now become a matter of policy that this administration is now going to announce war plans in advance that only increases the risk,” he continued.
Lt. Gen. Mcinerney quickly agreed with the Republican lawmaker.
“It’s absolutely bewildering,” he said. “We are aiding and abetting the enemy.”
Both men know what they’re talking about. Cotton is a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan, and now serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee. In addition to being a retired general, Mcinerney was a pilot who flew 407 combat missions in Vietnam.
Cotton suggested that Obama was more interested in a public relations effort than actually taking on America’s enemies (H/T BizPac Review).
“You have to wonder, given the timing right after the summit on countering violent extremism, if this is the administration trying to get a PR win since this summit hasn’t produced anything,” he stated.
Minerney then stated something that should make every American question Obama’s commitment to our men and women in uniform.
“(I)t’s still going to expose our forces to certain risk, because they’re going to be doing a lot of defensive preparation: IEDs, different force positions knowing an attack is coming,” explained the frustrated veteran.
“All those kind of things that are going to make our troops more vulnerable,” the general concluded.
Once again, Obama seems more interested in pandering than in actually protecting America’s interests … or its troops in harm’s way around the globe.
