via NYDAILY NEWS: Ten people are dead and 20 injured after a shooting at a community college in Oregon Thursday morning, officials said.

The shooter, a 20-year-old male who has yet to be identified, was killed after exchanging gunfire with police inside of Umpqua Community College in Roseburg at 10:38 a.m., according to Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin.

One witness told NRToday that the gunman first fired into a Snyder Hall classroom through a window, shooting a writing teacher in the head.

The gunman then entered the room and ordered everyone to stand up and state their religion before firing upon them, student Kortney Morre told the paper.

Three pistols and a long rifle, believed to belong to the gunman, were recovered from the scene, a law enforcement official told CNN.

Former UCC President Joe Olson, who retired in June after four years, said the school had no formal security staff, just one officer on a shift.

One woman tweeted that her grandmother was in the classroom and was forced to perform CPR on a friend, “but it was too late,” @BodhiLooney wrote.

“The shooter was lining people up and asking if they were christian,” she wrote using the lower-case C. “If they said yes, then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs.

“She wasn’t shot, but she is very upset,” she wrote.

Amy Fair, an English teacher at the school, wrote on Facebook she was in the classroom next door to the rampage and was “shell-shocked” after surviving it.

“HOLY S—,” she wrote.

“they weren’t telling us anything as they put us on buses and drove us offsite. BIG THANKS to local authorities who were on site within minutes, and to our UCC security & administrative staff, who stayed organized under incredible pressure (sic).”

Mercy Medical Center, a Roseburg hospital, received nine patients and is expecting three more, a spokesperson wrote on Facebook.

“Please continue to pray,” the message reads.

Medical staff were treating three women, two serious and one critical between the ages of 18 and 34, at PeaceHealth Medical Center at RiverBend, the hospital said in a tweet.

Several message boards noted the shooter may have revealed his plans Wednesday night in posts on the website 4chan.

“Some of you guys are alright. Don’t go to school tomorrow if you are in the northwest,” one post reads.

“happening thread will be posted tomorrow morning…so long space robots…Will post again in the am. 10 min countdown. Won’t say more to much to prepare (sic)”

Another message, posted on the anniversary of another deadly shooting, is addressed to “fellow robots” and wishes readers “an enjoyable Elliot Rodger day,” referencing the man who killed six people near California’s Santa Barbara University campus on May 23, 2014.

“Personally I will mark this day’s celebration of our Hero’s deeds by announcing that I have an elaborate plan…Needless to say; it shall be glorious. The horrible kind of normies will pay for their misdeeds, and the world will be bettered.”

President Obama, in a stern press conference which addressed the shooting and criticized the nation’s gun control laws, said saying our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families is “not enough.”

“It does not capture the heartache and grief and anger we should feel,” he said while calling the day’s events a “routine” tragedy which is seen “every so many months.”

“This is a political choice that we make to allow this to happen every few months in America,” he said.

“It’s fair to say that anybody who does this has a sickness in their mind, regardless of what they think their motivations may be. But we are not the only country on earth that has people with mental illness or who want to do harm to other people.

After the shooting, users on several message boards discovered a post on 4chan believed to be an early warning from the shooter.

“There is a gun for roughly every man, woman and child in America so how can you with a straight face argue that more guns will make us safer? We know that states with the most gun laws have the fewest gun deaths,” he said.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton also spoke out against the shooting, calling it a travesty which is beyond her comprehension.

“We are seeing these mass murders happen again and again and again,” she said while urging sensible gun control measures to keep firearms out of the wrong hands.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and former Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who narrowly survived a 2011 shooting, also expressed their heartbreak.

“Tragic news from Oregon this afternoon. My thoughts and prayers with all affected by the shooting at Umpqua Community College,” de Blasio tweeted.

“On a plane and learning about the heinous shooting in Oregon. A community’s heart has been tested but will not be broken. #UCCShooting,” added Giffords.

Governor Andrew Cuomo meanwhile called the prevalence of gun violence in this country “a sickness” and also urged Congress to “wake up and pass real, sensible gun control.”

“No one should suffer the pain of losing someone they love to gun violence, although it happens all too often,” he said in a statement.

“On behalf of all New Yorkers, I offer my sincere and heartfelt condolences to everyone who has been impacted by today’s tragedy.”

The two-year school, located about 67 miles south of Eugene, has roughly 3,300 full-time students and 16,000 part-time students, according to its website.

The school said it will be closed until Monday.

This is the 34th time since the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School that someone was killed by gunfire at a school, according to Everytown for Gun Safety.
