In a new level of absurdity, apparently snipers in the battlefield now have to yell a warning first or face years of protracted “lawfare” from do-gooders. And you wonder why the enemy thinks he’s pushing at an open door.
As reported by The Telegraph, A British sniper is being investigated for shooting dead an Iraqi insurgent preparing to fire a rocket propelled grenade because he did not shout a warning, according to a pressure group representing former members of the armed forces.
The group, UK Veterans One Voice, says the unidentified soldier is the subject of an inquiry by the Iraq Historic Allegations Team (IHAT), despite preventing an attack on a British base.
The news comes at a time when it has also been revealed that hundreds of British soldiers who served in Iraq have been pursued by investigators over claims of murder and torture.
They have received letters questioning their role in the alleged abuse of suspected insurgents on the frontline. In some cases, letters have been delivered personally, with veterans quizzed on their doorsteps by taxpayer funded detectives.
The legal guy heading it all up, Andrew Cayley QC, boasted about it: “Make no mistake we will give all these IHAT cases the thorough scrutiny the law requires and if prosecution is warranted we will not flinch from proceeding.”
Surprise, surprise. When the military replaced victory with “outreach” as its number one objective, disgraces like this would not only be promoted, but celebrated. And all this from a country where British soldier Lee Rigby was butchered to death by an Islamic extremist in broad daylight in London. It’s political correctness on steroids.
But back to the original story. Surely this has to be some kind of epic troll? Too absurd to be true? That’s the whole point of being a sniper – nobody knows you’re there!
Only in England.
After all, this is the same mob that wants to ban Donald Trump from entering their country.
The British may as well withdraw from the human race.
