Voter fraud is a huge issue in almost every major election. Of course the presidential election is going to be no different. Which is why this story should come as no surprise. A woman who lives in Texas who is an illegal citizen was arrested and taken into custody this past Friday for illegally voting in Dallas County on five occasions.
The woman is 35-year-old Rosa Maria Ortega and she resides now in Tarrant County Jail where she is on a $10,000 bond. This was all reported by the Dallas Fort Worth NBC affiliate Channel 5 News. They reported the following about the incident,
“Ortega is married to an American and is living legally in this country, but is not a citizen and therefore, not qualified to vote, said Harry White, who supervises public integrity and white collar crime investigations for the Tarrant County District Attorney.
Ortega applied to vote in Tarrant County and acknowledged on the application form that she was not a citizen, White said. The county rejected her application and notified her she was not qualified to vote.”
While she initially applied to register to vote she re-applied five months later after being denied yet she claimed she was American citizen but this was a lie. Everyone should know better, you do not mess with the federal government. Records indicate that Ortega never voted in Tarrant County, however she did on five separate occasions in Dallas County.
Her first election was in the 2004 Republican primary and the last recorded one was in the 2014 Republican primary. Illegal voting is a second degree felony which is punishable by a large sentence that ranges from 2 to 20 years.
The Democrats and Republicans are currently battling over the issue of voter ID fraud and the laws that dictate such events. Thirty different states have various forms of requirements when it comes to voter identification.
It has been mostly conservatives blaming Democrats for encouraging voter fraud because of the belief that illegal immigrants will vote. Which would skew in favor of Democratic candidates who are more lenient in amnesty and other issues towards illegal immigrants. But it seems the tide has turned in that department.
