2 Chicago Thugs Mugged A Veteran, But When They Messed With His Girlfriend It Was Their Biggest Mistake

Knowing how to protect yourself is priceless, because you cannot put a price on your life or the life of a loved one you may be with in a situation like this couple found themselves in.

Around 11pm Saturday, a man and his girlfriend decided they would take a walk along Oak Street Beach in Chicago when they were jumped by 3 men who asked for their credit cards and money.

The man immediately responded with their request and handed his belongings over. It would have ended right there, however… one of the 3 suspects had taken to his girlfriend and was manhandling her.

Neil McCarthy, the girl’s boyfriend, at that point decided he was not going to play the tolerant victim anymore. He knew once you give everything a robber asks for and they don’t leave? Well then, that means their intentions are far worse than just robbing them.

So he sprung into action.

“We were kind of hoping that when they came up and said ‘Hey, how’s it going?’ we would just be able to go ‘Good’ and then just carry on,” he said. “I think of it now, it was a terrible plan and they were always going to rob us, no matter how nice our greetings were.”

“McCarthy says the two attackers approached him, one holding a knife and demanded his phone and wallet, which he gave them. When he saw his girlfriend being roughed up by the third attacker, the adrenaline kicked in”.

Turning and seeing that guy just on her and I don’t know where those hands have been get them off my girlfriend, that’s what made me take a risk essentially,” said McCarthy.

He got the man off of his girlfriend, and immediately was attacked by the other two, who stabbed him in the shoulder and punched him in the face.

What these bad dudes didn’t know however, was that McCarthy is a veteran, so he is no stranger to combat nor is he prone to cowering in fear. With his special skill set he was able to get the knife away, and as soon as he did that the three men ran away.

They took his wallet and passport and his girlfriend’s credit cards.

The Police arrived shortly after and medical staff got him bandaged up.

However, that’s not the end of the story… McCarthy then started to search for his belongings on the beat in the direction the men ran. He found his iPhone, then surprisingly…he found one of his attackers!

He quickly tackled the suspect, dragged him across the beach and to the sidewalk where Police were to handcuff him.

Isn’t that something!?

Now they hoping a good Samaritan finds his passport and turns it in…otherwise, he’s not looking forward to all the paperwork ahead.
