From Mad World: We haven’t seen too much of Jihadi John during the past few months, since the coward has gone into hiding with reports indicating he was in Raqqa. Unfortunately for him, it seems that Christmas may have come early, as someone decided to gift him a little early this year. Let’s just say this was a package he was not expecting.
Most recent reports indicate that the man, Mohammed Emwazi, who has come to be known worldwide as Jihadi John, was hiding out in the isis stronghold in Syria. With multiple nations hot on the trail for retribution, it’s no wonder he decided to kick back and live the high life while letting the heat die down.
Emwazi, as you more than likely remember, was seen in a great many videos a few months ago, usually cutting the head off an innocent man. The extremist, who traveled to the Middle East from the UK, quickly gained notoriety by threatening the west while carrying out executions. Too bad for him, a recent mission of “persistent surveillance” just paid off, delivering a special gift to the terrorist.
According to a recent Pentagon release, Emwazi was targeted by airstrikes and iscurrently believed to have been killed, though that notion is yet to be officially confirmed. Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook states that:
“Emwazi, a British citizen, participated in the videos showing the murders of U.S. journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley, U.S. aid worker Peter Abdul-Rahman Kassig, British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning, Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, and a number of other hostages.”
He lastly went on to say, “We are assessing the results of tonight’s operation and will provide additional information as and where appropriate.”
As we all know, President Barack Obama’s policy regarding isis has been dangerously neglectful to say the least, leaving a many people not pleased. Pointing out the sentiment that Obama’s administration should have done more to save American lives, some suggest it’s too little, too late.
Diane Foley, the mother of Emwazi’s first victim James Foley, explained that Jihadi John’s death would only be “a small solace to us.” She further declared, “This huge effort to go after this deranged man filled with hate when they can’t make half that effort to save the hostages while these young Americans were still alive.”
I whole heartedly believe that greater effort should have been put forth to save the lives of these Americans while they were still here with us. However, in typical Obama fashion, he instead decided that the best course of action would be to ignore the problem in hopes that it went away and resolved itself, just as he has done everything else.
As we all know, his genius strategy only resulted in innocent people having their heads separated from their bodies. Seeing how this problem (ISIS) was mostly created by Obama, as he sought to gain political favor by withdrawing from Iraq too soon, you really would have thought he would have acted stronger to resolve the situation while the terrorist force was just surfacing and was still in its infancy phase.
Although I do consider the death of Jihadi John of significant value – and something he very much deserved – I can’t help but sympathize with Ms. Foley’s sentiments here. Americans shouldn’t have died in the first place, and isis shouldn’t even be a name anyone recognizes. Had Obama actually done his job, that would have been the case – yet he still remains adamant on neglecting his duties.
