Police Officer Collin Rose Was Surrounded By 150 Officers When He Died From Gunshot

The violence aagainst police officers has re emerged over the last few weeks. Several police officers were specifically targeted during routine traffic stops and shot several times. One is confirmed dead while the others are in critical condition in the hospital. Collin Rose was a police officer at Wayne State University and he died this last Tuesday.

He officially passed at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening surrounded by over one hundred and fifty police officers and close friends and family. He was located at the Detroit Receiving Hospital.

One of the most unfortunate things that is really sad is that Rose had recently proposed to his long time girlfriend,

Wayne State University officially released a statement on the ordeal and the passing of one of their police officers saying,

“Dear campus community,

I am saddened to report that a short time ago, Wayne State University officer Collin Rose died from the gunshot wound he suffered while working in the line of duty yesterday evening. This is a tragedy felt by all of us — Collin and his family and friends, his fiancée, and our campus and community.

Please keep Collin and his fiancée and family in your thoughts and prayers. Collin served Wayne State with distinction, and we owe those he left behind our deepest sympathies and our strong support. Please keep all our police officers in your thoughts as well. Collin is the first and only Wayne State officer ever to fall in the line of duty. Our officers mourn with us, but these dedicated, professional men and women continue to serve us courageously, every day. We can honor Collin’s memory best with our ongoing gratitude and support for all of our officers.”

There are several other officers still battling for their life from shootings around the country. The shooter in one of the cases was arrested and apprehended. The murder of police officers is a capital felony offense that has a death penalty imposed at times for it. This holiday season will be especially hard for their family considering the day after they lost their loved one is Thanksgiving.

Hopefully they will all be lifted up in prayer by all those who came to support him towards the end.
