This Minnesota Dad would probably like to take back the words he left on a voicemail to the white father of an African American girl who his sons had been bullying:
Yeah, Brad, tides have turned, huh? I guess you’re n***** lover. Call me back.”
Fox 9 News reports those words cost Deron Puro his job.
The father of the boys, Deron Puro, was an independent contractor, and his employer confirmed to Fox 9 on Wednesday that he is no longer associated with that company as of Jan. 21.
It all started when Brad Knudson’s daughter reported getting racist and generally rude Snapchats from two boys who knew her from school. Knudson tried several times to get in touch with Puro, but he held him off. Eventually, Knudson went to the police. What followed was that racist voicemail message above.
Knudson called Puro back and, as Fox 9 reports, this was the upshot of the conversation:
Brad Knudson called Deron Puro back and told him he’d post that racist message and other communications between Puro’s sons and his daughter. Knudson says Puro told him that was fine.
Some kids have been so distraught by online bullying they’ve committed suicide. Knudson wanted his daughter to know he would fight for her.
The school was expected to punish the bullies, but few thought Dad would be punished. too.
