I sense some dissension in the ranks of the Democrat party. In the battle to become the next chair of the Democrat National Committee, things started to get heated when one of the candidates, Vincent Tolliver, gave his open opinion about another candidate. No… he didn’t accuse the other candidate of being too conservative or too Christian or even intolerant. He claimed to be shocked that the DNC would even consider someone whose core religion disallowed gay people from being out in society. Ok, that’s a very fair argument when a huge portion of your campaign platforms are about tolerance toward everything gay. Here is what he wrote to The Hill (but you have to read the DNC response…. hilarious!).
He started by saying that he believed Rep. Keith Ellison should be removed immediately from DNC Chair consideration because he is Muslim.
“His being Muslim is precisely why DNC voters should not vote for him. Muslims discriminate against gays. Islamic law is clear on the subject, and being gay is a direct violation of it. In some Muslim countries, being gay is a crime punishable by death.
Clearly, Mr. Ellison is not the person to lead the DNC or any other organization committed to not discriminating based on gender identity or sexual orientation. I’m shocked HRC [Human Rights Campaign] has been silent on the issue. A vote for Representative Ellison by any member of the DNC would be divisive and unconscionable, not to mention counterproductive to the immediate and necessary steps of rebuilding the Democratic Party.”
That sounds fair… their whole mantra is that Democrats are more tolerant than everyone else. They must keep up that facade. The fact that Tolliver called Rep. Ellison out for being a member of a group who isn’t tolerant toward gays and even kills them really makes sense. Of course, interim DNC Chair, Donna Brazile, was very unhappy over Tolliver’s “intolerance” to Ellison saying,
“We expect candidates for Chair of the Party to conduct a respectful campaign based on issues. To assure that, we ask all our Chair candidates to pledge ‘to uphold the interests, welfare, and success of the Democratic Party of the United States,’ and to participate in the process ‘in good faith.’ Mr. Tolliver’s disgusting comments attacking the religion of a fellow candidate fall far short of that standard. Accordingly, Mr. Tolliver is no longer a candidate for DNC Chair.”
I guess coming out in defense of gays is a good thing unless it doesn’t suit the Democrat party at the time. “Tolerance” is good as long as it doesn’t mess with the Democrat machine agenda. In this case pointing out the long history of homophobic censures from Muslims to innocent gays around the world just didn’t fit into the Democrat agenda. They are the epitome of hypocrisy and intolerance. They are wholly intolerant to truth. Thanks Democrats for being completely transparent once again.
