Despite Floods And Riots, Obama Parties On Vacation Late Into The Night…

Louisiana is flooding, but you probably haven’t heard about it.

During Hurricane Katrina, the world had their eyes on George W. Bush, scrutinizing his every move. But during flooding in Louisiana, the media, and the President, don’t appear to have even noticed. I’m sure the 40,000+ impacted noticed.

Why hasn’t the media politicized this issue, like they did Hurricane Katrina? I suspect the fact that our President’s Party affiliation begins with a “D” rather than a “R” has to do with it. Had we been living under a President John McCain or Mitt Romney, the media would be demanding that they act immediately.

But what is Obama doing right now? Close to nothing.

While communities in southern Louisiana struggle to recover from devastating floods that have killed at least nine people and violent unrest between protesters and police begins to settle in Milwaukee, President Obama is celebrating his second week of vacation on Martha’s Vineyard.

Obama, who is on his final summer retreat to the Massachusetts island as president, has spent almost every night out on the town for unusually late hours, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Despite taking a brief break from his vacation to attend a Hillary Clinton fundraiser on Monday, Obama has yet to comment on the Louisiana flooding and the ongoing unrest in Milwaukee. He did upgrade the emergency declaration for Louisiana to a major disaster declaration, authorizing federal authorities to respond with aid.

“Although Michelle is very strict about me actually taking a vacation when I get a vacation, she gave me a special dispensation for this evening because she understands, just as all of you understand, how important this is,” Obama said in Chilmark of Clinton’s presidential campaign at the fundraiser.

And here’s the real kicker: when Obama was initially running for President, he promised that he wouldn’t take any vacations.

Yes – really.

“uh umm, you give me this office and in turn my, fears, doubts, insecurities, foibles, need for sleep, family life, vacations, leisure is gone. I am giving my self to you” candidate Obama told us.

Over 40 vacations, and 300 rounds of gold later, I think it’s pretty obvious that promise was just another campaign promise he refused to keep.

On the other hand, if he’s on vacation, he can’t screw anything up…
