Dolly Parton is a vestige of the American music industry. For her exceptional music talent, her generosity, and her love for her country. During the 2016 wildfires in Tennessee, she offered $1,000 a month to a family deeply affected by the fires in order to assist them in getting back on their feet. Just one example of her charitable nature.
She has not been shy about her Christian faith over the years. At a recent event, she appeared at she appealed to all those in the audience and in the United States with a peaceful message.
It was a show in Charlotte, North Carolina. Prior to singing her hit song “Hello God” she pled with audience members to seek out the truth and wake up to reality. She said,
“Nobody knows when the end is coming, some people will tell you they do. Well that’s a secret known only to God, not a fanatical few. It might be today, or it might be tomorrow or in a million years or two. But in the meantime we gotta be happy, we gotta work together, we gotta do better, we gotta dream more, care more, do more, be more…and it wouldn’t hurt to pray more, right? So let’s just stop this old doomsday attitude and get on with the show…Just let the spirit flow. What do you say?
Be happy! Everybody just do your part. We may not be able to save the whole world but we can save the world we’re living in, the one around us with our family and friends. Sometimes that can spread out. Just do what we can.”
Now more than four million people have watched her video online through different outlets. Hundress began posting congratulatory comments on the message boards thanking her for her comments and praising her for her words.
In this highly divisive time it is always entertainers who have a way of either pulling us together or ripping us apart. Music, film, sports, and more have the ability to bring people of all backgrounds together. It is nice to see Dolly Parton using her platform to do just that.
