Monday’s House Congressional probe into the “Russian Conspiracy” brought FBI Director James Comey to testify for actions taken by his employees. The findings are both unbelievable, and exactly what you’d expect. Comey once again offered no evidence that there were any connections between Trump and Russia but was somehow able to swiftly dismiss President Trump’s accusation of wiretapping, despite the existence of the FISA warrant.
It’s hard to see Comey as anything other than a pawn for former President Barack Obama. Comey lost the respect of the people under his command at the FBI when he failed to indict Hillary Clinton despite overwhelming evidence of at MINIMUM gross negligence e.g. “extreme carelessness” and likely MUCH more serious charges. He needs to go, and lucky for us, President Trump CAN indeed fire him.
“Under a United States statute that first went into effect in 1968, FBI directors are nominated by the president and must be confirmed by the Senate — a process similar to the nomination and confirmation of Supreme Court justices or presidential cabinet officials. Unlike the justices, who are appointed for life and cannot be fired — but can be impeached by congress (which has happened only one time in American history) — or cabinet officials who have no set terms, the FBI director is appointed to a single term of 10 years. The statute establishing the 10-year term limit was passed in 1976, four years after the death of legendary FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, who held ONTO the job for 48 years. But according to a 2014 report by the Congressional Research Service, “there are no statutory conditions on the President’s authority to remove the FBI Director.” In other words, the President can indeed fire the FBI director. A FBI director can also be removed by congress, through the impeachment process.”
So what we’re telling you is that there is a chance. President Trump has every legal right to remove the crooked Comey from office, and this writer thinks he should exercise said right. Immediately, if not sooner.
