From BizPac: This is going to drive the libs crazy, A GQ magazine profile of Dr. Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon and potential contender for the Republican nomination, quotes Carson calling President Obama a “psychopath” during the president’s State of the Union speech in January.
Carson was watching the address with his friend, conservative columnist and entrepreneur Armstrong Williams when Williams noted how good the president looked while making his case to the American public.
This is how writer Jason Zengerle describes the exchange:
“He looks good,” Williams said. “He looks clean. Shirt’s white. The tie. He looks elegant.”
“Like most psychopaths,” Carson grumbled. “That’s why they’re successful. That’s the way they look. They all look great.”
The anecdote is one of several in the piece meant to show Carson’s rise from a man virtually unknown outside medical circles a few years ago to a serious – if outside – contender for the nation’s highest office.
It includes some other vignettes, Carson in Israel, Carson at the National Prayer Breakfast in 2013, where he made the anti-Obamacare speech in front of the president that vaulted him to the national stage.
But the quote calling Barack Obama a psychopath is the one that’s making news. Regardless of whether he knew the conversation was being recorded for national consumption, it’s one Carson apparently believes.
Because of what he said next, according to Zengerle:
“But he knows he’s telling a lie!” Carson said. “He’s trying to sell what he thinks is not true! He’s sitting there saying, ‘These Americans are so stupid, I can tell them anything.’”
There’s not a conservative in America who will disagree.
