Excerpted from Fox News: A controversial Muslim cleric in Britain has called for the UK to become an Islamic state and follow Sharia law. Some reports indicated that the main suspect in the beheading of James Foley is believed to have been radicalized in Britain by supporters of this radical imam, Anjem Choudary.
Choudary denied any links to Abdel Majed Abdel Bary, the British rapper suspected of killing Foley, but he also said the beheading was permissible under Islamic law.
Sean Hannity took on Choudary in a heated one-on-one Wednesday night, challenging him repeatedly on whether he – like ISIS – believes those who refuse to convert to Islam or pay a tax should be punished with death.
Choudary did not answer directly, bringing up America’s detention of terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay, torture and the deaths of innocent Muslims in the Iraq war. He quoted George W. Bush’s post-9/11 remark that ‘you’re either with us or with the terrorists.’
“We’re not with America definitely, so we must be with the terrorists,” he said, disputing reports that ISIS terrorists killed Yazidis and Christians in northern Iraq for refusing to convert to Islam.
“Imam, let me educate you because obviously you’re pretty ignorant,” said Hannity, going on to detail the massacres by ISIS in the Mosul region.
Choudary called the stories about the Yazidis being stranded on Mt. Sinjar a “pack of lies in order to demonize and vilify the Islamic state.” He said Christians are lining up to return to Mosul because “they realize that life under the Sharia is much better than the Nuri al-Maliki regime, which the Americans propped up, and who was murdering and torturing people.”
“You’re writing your own history. You’re not being honest. You’re wasting our time,” Hannity countered.
Things only got more heated from there, with Hannity later accusing Choudary and his followers of being the “enemy of free people.” He said that “eventually the world’s going to wake up … and every radical Islamist like you will be wiped off the face of the earth.”
At the end, Choudary vowed that people “have no choice, Sharia law is coming to a place near you.”
