From Truth Revolt: An Equal Opportunity presentation at Fort Gordon, Georgia is under investigation after the instructor “deviated” from the approved curriculum and began talking to soldiers about “white privilege.”
During the session last Thursday a slide titled, “The luxury of obliviousness” was shown to 400 members of the 67th Signal Battalion. The slide told the soldiers that:
“Race privilege gives whites little reason to pay a lot of attention to African Americans or to how white privilege affects them. ‘To be white in American (sic) means not having to think about it.’”
Army spokeswoman Captain Lindsay Roman told USA Today that steps are being taken to rectify this.
“To prevent further instances, all unit instructors will receive additional training on the importance of following Army EO training requirements,” Roman said.
The issue came to light after a participant posted a photo of the slide to Facebook. The image generated a lot of comments from people upset at the level of political correctness that has taken hold in the military.
A second image showing a text message apologizing for the session has also been released.
