So apparently liberal Facebook employees pretty much hate Donald Trump… and America. Last December they pushed to have his Facebook posts removed from the site because they believed them to be “racist hate speech.” Employees of the social media giant didn’t like it when Trump called for a ban on Muslim immigration until we could figure out what was going on on the terrorism front. Trump later revised his call for a total ban, saying that only Muslims from terror hot spots would be denied entry into the country.
Trump’s initial statement on Muslim immigration read in part:
Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on. According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population. Most recently, a poll from the Center for Security Policy released data showing “25% of those polled agreed that violence against Americans here in the United States is justified as a part of the global jihad” and 51% of those polled, “agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah.” Shariah authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won’t convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women.
I guess those employees at Facebook have some kind of affinity towards terror groups like ISIS. Keeping Americans safe from terror attacks seems like a no-brainer.
Apparently their left-wing beliefs don’t line up with Donald Trump’s pro-America ideology. Having Trump’s Facebook posts removed from the site would in essence be the same as banning him from it as it would hinder his ability to get his message out.
The funny thing about the employees pushing to have Trump’s posts removed is that Trump got an unlikely ally in Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook.
When Facebook employees brought Trump’s statements on Muslim immigration up with Zuckerberg, he declined to take Trump’s post down, actually coming out in favor of freedom of speech saying that it would harm him. Zuckerberg said it would be “inappropriate to censor the candidate.” That’s actually quite a shocker as Zuckerberg is a known Hillary supporter.
Leftist Facebook employees also didn’t like that board member Peter Thiel supports Trump. They let Zuckerberg know, and, he sent them a memo which read in part:
“We care deeply about diversity. That’s easy to say when it means standing up for ideas you agree with. It’s a lot harder when it means standing up for the rights of people with different viewpoints to say what they care about. That’s even more important.”
Ho Lee Crap. Is Zuckerberg actually starting to “get it”?
Earlier this year Facebook employees in charge of the trending list were also thwarting conservative topics and websites from trending on the list in an attack on freedom of speech. Furious conservatives pushed for the issue to be addressed, and, sure enough, Zuckerberg made it happen, surely as he knows that segment of society represents a massive economic bloc.
Zuckerberg met with a number of conservative commentators and leaders of groups such as the Tea Party to discuss how Facebook could earn their trust. He posted a statement to Facebook after the meeting.
“The reality is, conservatives and Republicans have always been an important part of Facebook. Donald Trump has more fans on Facebook than any other presidential candidate. And Fox News drives more interactions on its Facebook page than any other news outlet in the world. It’s not even close. I wanted to hear their concerns personally and have an open conversation about how we can build trust.”
Zuckerberg likes making money! Hot damn!
Later, Facebook fired the entire editorial staff on the Trending team and replaced them with engineers, and moved towards automation. A good first step.
Zuckerberg, although a liberal, knows censoring a major portion of the populace would hurt his company’s bottom line, and appears to be on the right track in terms of protecting Americans’ right to freedom of speech. There is one thing we’d like Zuckerberg to tell those terror-loving employees of his, though…
We’d also like to see him vote for Trump, but that might be pushing it a bit. Maybe he’ll come around in the future.
Share this if you think those Facebook employees should be fired for trying to ban Trump!
