People have been protesting across the country since Donald Trump was elected. There have been reports of arson and vandalism, of riots and protesters blocking highways. But what did their collective temper tantrum cause? According to one Facebook user, it caused someone’s death.
The user, whose name was made anonymous, claims to be an emergency medical technician and says that they protesters stopped their ambulance and forced them to go an extra 45 minutes out of the way. And tragically, his patient died.
I have to unfacebook for a few days. I had a patient die during a transfer last night because our ambulance was stopped by protesters and had to drive an extra 45 minutes around the blocked roads. I can’t today. They can give their f**king safety pins to my patient’s fatherless 4 year old daughter.
This post hasn’t been verified, but this is certainly not implausible, considering that it’s happened before, during #BlackLivesMatter protests.
Either way, it’s a legitimate concern. Protesting is all fine and good, but shutting down highways is not OK. They have no idea who they’re preventing from using the roads, or what kind of emergency they’re making worse.
