FDA approves using radiation to sterilize food

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has just approved a process that uses radioactive cobalt to sterilize foods and kill bacteria. A great point is made is that this is sending the wrong idea to people, and possibly may cause relaxed quality control standards if they know it just gets “zapped” at the end of the line.
