Earlier this week, it was discovered that Susan Rice was embroiled in yet another scandal. In case you missed it, Rice was found to be the one behind the “unmasking” of the identities of Donald Trump’s transition team. However, in this particular scandal, Rice could find herself serving some serious jail time. Now, one army veteran had some serious words for her and we should all take notice.
Army veteran and now a Senator, Tom Cotton is a force to be reckoned with. On Tuesday, Cotton appeared on Hugh Hewitt’s nationally syndicated radio show. Cotton compared Rice’s involvement with this latest scandal to “Typhoid Mary.”
“Susan Rice is the Typhoid Mary of the Obama administration foreign policy,” Cotton said. “Every time something went wrong, she seemed to turn up in the middle of it, whether it was these allegations of improper unmasking, intentional or improper surveillance, whether it’s Benghazi or the other fiascos over the eight years of the Obama administration.”
You can listen to the entire interview here.
Hewitt asked Cotton if he had ever requested an “unmasking”. Cotton replied that he has never requested that information.
“I’ve never asked for an unmasked name, and frankly it’s hard to imagine the circumstances [under which] you would in the ordinary course of business outside of an exceptional review like we’re conducting now,” Cotton said. “Unmasking normally occurs by law enforcement or intelligence analysts who need it to conduct an investigation or to understand the raw intelligence.”
When asked whether the “unmasking” should be the subject of a Senate hearing, Cotton said, “There’s no doubt about that.”
This new report shows where the scandal really lies which is in the Obama administration. This spying tramples all over our fourth amendment rights and it needs to be stopped. Whether or not we have anything to hide does not give the government the right to listen in.
Trump’s privacy was completely violated and we should be outraged this happened. However, it happens to all of is and that is why we need to push for this to end. I truly hope that there is a thorough investigation into Rice’s actions and these surveillance agencies are dismantled.
