Mad World News: A Georgia woman is in a bit of hot water after trying to trick the government into giving her a fraudulent tax refund. Needless to say, she was swiftly arrested after showing up to a local convenience store, where she thought she was picking up her $94 million dollar check.

Apparently, Brigitte Jackson thought she had pulled a fast one after tricking the government into sending her a $94 million dollar check for her tax return. However, state investigators stayed one step ahead of Ms. Jackson as they directed her to a local convenience store to pick up her check.

Once there, instead of being handed a life-changing check, she found herself being placed in a shiny new pair of bracelets by officers. According to Georgia Department of Revenue Special Investigations Chief Josh Waites, “It doesn’t matter if it’s $94 or $94 million. We’re going to go after you and hold you accountable.”

As WSB-TV2 reports, “She is facing five charges, including attempted theft by taking and conspiracy to defraud the state.” Police are also looking for a family member of Jackson’s who also asked for a refund in the amount of $99 million as well.

Her arrest may have been her own fault, since the Georgia government was actually going to send Ms. Jackson her refund. It wasn’t until they received several calls from Jackson herself, inquiring about the status of her refund check, that officials were alerted.
