Geraldo Rivera is a talking head that can’t seem to shut up. He’s almost never right about anything, yet he’s given a platform to spew his nonsense on a regular basis. I guess this is what Fox News means by “fair and balanced.” Rivera, being Hispanic, has taken up the pet cause of illegal immigration.
He goes far to talk about how it’s good for the country, all the while not portraying the very real bad side. Thankfully, we have Ann Coulter for that – an ardent Trump supporter and one who understands the subject of illegal immigration all too well. She takes him to task for his nonsensical statements and her victory is indeed glorious.
Watch this and try not to get up and cheer.
Do you think she was too hard on him, or not hard enough?
Ann Coulter and Geraldo Rivera clashed last week on Donald Trump’s remarks on Mexicans and illegal immigration.
On Thursday night, the two were back for another spirited debate on “Hannity,” with Rivera arguing that immigrants do not commit crimes at a higher rate than the native-born population.
Rivera brought up a Washington Post report that stated “data on immigrants and crime are incomplete, but a range of studies show there is no evidence immigrants commit more crimes than native-born Americans.”
Hannity noted that illegal immigrants make up about 3.5% of the population, according to Pew, while they made up 13.6% of the federal prison population in the last fiscal year, according to the U.S. Sentencing Commission.
He also pointed out statistics on crimes committed by illegal immigrants who were released by federal authorities in 2013.
Coulter focused on California, saying that only 25% of the state’s prison population is white.
“Well, California is only about six percent black, so what are liberals saying? That 75% of the inmates in California prisons… are black? No, of course they’re Hispanics,” said Coulter.
Rivera countered that New York and L.A., which have large populations of undocumented immigrants, have seen a decrease in crime, while other cities like Detroit and Baltimore are experiencing higher crime rates.
He called on Coulter to focus more on those places, instead of “ginning up false fear” about Hispanics committing violent crimes.
She pushed back that crime goes down “for a lot of reasons.”
“In New York, because of Giuliani and Bloomberg’s policies and it’s going back up,” said Coulter.
Rivera then targeted the title of Coulter’s book “Adios America: The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country Into a Third World Hellhole,” arguing that the word “adios” is an “ipso facto attack” on Hispanics.
“Do you really believe the left is conspiring to make this a third-world hellhole? That it’s a conspiracy?” he asked.
“Yes, because they’re winning elections now,” Coulter answered, adding that “Obama would not have won elections but for the post-1970s immigration, which of course is Hispanic.”
