From Mad World: It’s not a huge secret that teachers and school faculty will overstep their boundaries when it comes to the students, but when it happens, it doesn’t become any less angering, which a story out of Colorado shows us.
A little girl was sent off to school with her regular lunch by her mother, Leeza Pearson, but her teacher at Children’s Academy in Aurora forbid her from eating it, according to 9News. Apparently, it contained items within it that the teacher herself deemed as not having any nutritional value — despite her lack of dietary credentials. She then sent the 5-year-old girl home with a stern note, warning her mother not to send such items with her own daughter again.
Her daughter had brought a ham and cheese sandwich, string cheese, and a four-pack of Oreo cookies on Friday, which the teacher wasn’t a fan of. After the little girl finished off the sandwich and cheese, the teacher forbid her from eating the Oreos, and Pearson found the cookies along with a note which read, in part:
“Dear Parents, it is very important that all students have a nutritious lunch. This is a public school setting and all children are required to have a fruit, a vegetable and a heavy snack from home, along with a milk. If they have potatoes, the child will also need bread to go along with it. Lunchables, chips, fruit snacks, and peanut butter are not considered to be a healthy snack. This is a very important part of our program and we need everyone’s participation.”
USA Today reports that Pearson isn’t happy with the teacher’s actions, and now she’s demanding to know why they believe they had the authority to forbid her daughter from eating something sent in with her by her own mother.
“What the school thinks is healthy for her is not what I think is healthy for her,” said Pearson. “She needs to eat what she’s going to eat. That’s between me and her and our doctor — not the school.”
Before getting too upset with the school, it’s important to realize that officials said the note shouldn’t have been sent out to any parent whatsoever. In fact, the school’s director said it’s not school or district policy to tell parents what their children are allowed to eat, which means the self-righteous teacher took it upon theirself to become the food Nazi.
Both the district and the Children’s Academy have said they’ll be investigating the teacher’s actions. The school also said they will be sitting the teacher down to talk to them about what happened.
This type of incident seems to be occurring more often, but what a parent feeds their child is absolutely none of the school’s concern. The public school system has pushed itself further and further into the sacred relationships between parents and their children.
The do-gooder, bleeding heart idiots responsible for this kind of thing need to take a step back and mind their own business. They’re not the ones who are responsible for people’s children, and it’s not up to them to dictate how someone raises their kid, period … End of discussion.
