Trey Gowdy has been reelected in his state of South Carolina and will return to DC to continue to be Hillary Clinton’s biggest nightmare. His win is basically an announcement that a full investigation into Hillary Clinton’s corruption will be forthcoming. The pit bull prosecutor is not anywhere near done with Clinton and her email scandal. Gowdy will return to serve on House Committees that have had her in the cross-hairs and in the hot seat. If I were her, I’d keep her attorneys on retainer for a while yet.
There have been rumors ongoing that Obama will pardon Clinton before he leaves office. I don’t think he can pardon her if she hasn’t been convicted yet and there are a number of crimes she is being charged with that would be outside the purview of a pardon. It’s complicated, but it would not entirely let her off the hook. The question is whether the Trump Administration has the appetite to go after the Hildabeast… according to Trump, they do and will.
From US Herald:
Following Comey’s decision not to recommend charges against Clinton, Gowdy subjected the director to a blistering cross-examination before the Oversight Committee, forcing him to acknowledge the numerous instances when she lied to the Committee – and to the American public.
Gowdy also took exception to Comey’s announcement – coming just days before the election – to reaffirm that decision.
“There is sufficient evidence, both direct and circumstantial, upon which a jury could conclude an intent to violate the law. This evidence includes concealment of evidence, destruction of evidence and false exculpatory statements — all of which fall under the general heading of consciousness of guilt.”
Gowdy’s statement and his return to the House cannot be reassuring news for Clinton who repeatedly claimed, in the final days of the campaign, that she had been “cleared” by the FBI – twice.
In fact, Gowdy said Comey’s most recent announcement reaffirms the original July finding that Clinton was “extremely careless in her handling of classified material,” leaving open the possibility that her troubles before the Oversight Committee did not come to an end on Election Day.
An even bigger nightmare looms for Clinton if Donald Trump makes Trey Gowdy Attorney General, replacing Loretta Lynch. If he heads the Department of Justice, Gowdy will lose the dogs of war on Clinton. Of that, I have no doubt.
Gowdy has been sharply critical of James Comey, the head of the FBI. And with good cause. I think that Comey’s days of heading the beleaguered FBI are just about over. It will be interesting to see who Trump replaces him with. But Trey Gowdy is just getting started and he’s on the hunt for Hildabeast.
